Activities To Keep Your Littles Busy All Summer Long!

When the weathers nice I always try to do everything I can to keep the girls outside as much as possible. Not only does the fresh air improve their moods but getting them outside allows them to explore, learn, and grow. I wanted to share with you some of my tried and true best ways to keep those littles happy and occupied on your outdoor adventures! And most of the stuff you need you can find already laying around your house or garage!

LET'S GO FISHING!

This is probably Scarlett's favorite game to play in our backyard... She will spend HOURS pretending to be a pirate fishing for food. And all you need is an old fishing rod and a "fish". Our fish is an old bobber but you can use literally anything that you can tie to the fishing line! Scarlett will sit on her pretend boat and cast and reel back in her fish all afternoon if I'd let her... And mama gets to sit back and enjoy all of the laughter and happy squeals.

SCAVENGER HUNT

My favorite game to play with the girls especially on days when I want to get a walk or run in and the girls just seem too restless for a stroller ride is a scavenger hunt! I just draw a few pictures on some paper of things they'll see on our trip... like bunnies, birds, and even airplanes, give them each a stamp, and watch as they excitedly look and mark things off along the way! And if they're extra restless you can let them walk along too and make all of the items on their list things they can pick up and bring with them... think flowers, leaves, or pine cones! Then when they get home they can tape their finds to the paper, which is a two in one with my kids because it's not every day mommy lets them play with tape!

CHALK OBSTACLE COURSE!

I came across this super fun activity in the beginning of the 2020 pandemic and it quickly became a fav quarantine game among the girls. All you need is some chalk and your driveway and you'll have hours of fun! I started with a basic hopscotch board, added a "tight rope" and some "froggy Lilly pads" and viola the girls are happy and occupied all afternoon!
